YDS NIF announced - Scottish Fencing Ranking updated...

Scottish Fencing have today updated the u16 cross-weapon rankings and announced the NIF for the Scottish Secondary Schools - which for this year will be 20. As a result the NIF for all YDS competitions which shall be used for the SF official rankings lists will be 15. This makes the YDS competitions really very worthwhile to enter if you want to attract ranking points.

This has taken a while to get published - however we know how hard it is to create simple to interpret ranking lists for 6 weapons, and you can definitely see where the work has gone since the ranking lists now run for the whole fencing year, and not just till January as they have in the past. This means that there is now much more reason to enter the whole range of Scottish open competitions and YDS events right up till July next year.
The adoption of a full season ranking system is an excellent decision in our opinion and we congratulate Car, Jen, Roy, Caroline and everyone else at Scottish Fencing involved in working out and introducing this rolling ranking approach.
