Round Two Summary
Posted 23/11/2008 - 00:44 by Owen
We're just about halfway through the series now (well 40% - or 2/5ths for the older readers...), and of course we have to express our massive thanks to all who came along and made it such a great day of fencing again.
Round Two was an interesting one:-
- From the outset we had a bit of a pressure from another clashing competition just a few miles away - which thankfully appears to have had virtually no effect on fencer numbers and helpers.
- We also had a few fencers scratching for various reasons - not least because of the inclement weather for our further travelled fencers - that caused a few issues within specific age group rounds - but we muddled through!
But none of that mattered because:
- We had loads more people volunteering for more jobs across the board - thanks folks!
- Continued top notch support and help from Allstar UK - our series core sponsors (you're great guys!!)
- We had a brilliant venue - 2nd year running at High School of Glasgow - with fantastic facilities and really friendly and helpful staff to help us set up etc.
- We even managed to do some DT training - so now there are at least four more people who know how to run that part of the competition - and (for the first time for us) - we had assistant floor manager!
- But best of all - everyone had a fun time (good fencing, good sportsmanship, great food and loads of smiles all round...)
- In fact - some folks clearly didn't want to leave because we had more lost property than ever - so if you've mislaid something have a look here.
We even had a snowman and a couple of santas on th esunday (see the pictures to prove it here).
Results are below - rankings will be up soon and we'll hopefully see you all again on February 13th & 14th in Dundee for Round Three.
